Bayern Munich carry a healthy 4-1 lead into the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash against Lazio on Wednesday.

It goes without saying that the Italian side will need to perform a miraculous comeback at Allianz Arena to turn the tie around.

Bayern Munich raced into a 3-0 lead inside the first 45 minutes of the first leg, thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane.

A Francesco Acerbi own goal gave the Germans a 4-0 lead just after the break, before Joaquin Correa netted a consolation goal for Lazio.

Since the first leg, Bayern have recorded three straight wins in the Bundesliga, seeing off FC Koln, Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen.

Hansi Flick’s men netted a combined total of 12 goals during that period, with a 3-1 victory over Bremen coming on Saturday.

Having only lost three of their 25 league matches, Bayern remain at the summit of the Bundesliga standings.

Lewandowski has now scored 38 goals in 34 appearances this term, including four goals in five Champions League games.

On the flip side, Lazio managed to register 14 shots in the first leg. However, they ultimately failed to make the most of their chances.

It is also worth pointing out that Lazio have lost two of their three Serie A matches since the first leg three weeks ago.

After losing 2-0 to Bologna and 3-1 to Juventus, the Eagles bounced back to secure a 3-2 win over Crotone on Friday.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto’s early goals were cancelled out by a Simeon Nwankwo brace, but Felipe Caicedo netted late on to secure all three points for Lazio.

Interestingly, Lazio have only won two of their seven Champions League games this season, picking up four draws during the group stage.

Head-to-head: Bayern recorded seven shots on target and registered a 90% pass accuracy as they beat Lazio 4-1 in the first leg.

Still, this is the only previous meeting between the teams, so there aren’t any other results to assess for this matchup.

Team news: Corentin Tolisso, Tanguy Nianzou, Douglas Costa, David Alaba and Ron-Thorben Hoffman are all currently sidelined for Bayern Munich.

As for Lazio, they will be without injured trio Luiz Felipe, Manuel Lazzari and Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro for the second leg on Wednesday.

At the end of the day, it is difficult to imagine anything other than an easy win for Bayern Munich when Lazio visit Allianz Arena.

Forebet predicts that Bayern Munich will secure a comfortable victory over Lazio on Wednesday, with over 3.5 total match goals expected.
