Two of European football’s powerhouses will lock horns in Germany on Tuesday as the UEFA Champions League semi-finals get underway.
Bayern Munich welcome Real Madrid to the Allianz Arena for the first leg of their showdown, with Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain competing in the other semi-final.

Bayern Munich head into the first leg on the back of a 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, courtesy of a brace from Harry Kane.
The England captain has now chalked up 35 goals and 10 assists in 31 Bundesliga matches, in addition to seven goals and three assists in 10 Champions League outings.
Although Bayern have surrendered the Bundesliga title this season, they have remained strong in the UCL, recording seven wins, two draws and only one defeat.
Thomas Tuchel’s men have scored 18 goals in 10 Champions League games this term (1.8 goals per game). Better still, they have kept five clean sheets in their last six UCL matches.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid notched their sixth successive La Liga victory last time out, defeating Real Sociedad 1-0 to edge closer towards the title.
That win extended Los Blancos’ unbeaten streak to 18 matches across all competitions, and they have not lost in normal time in 40 games, with that run stretching back to September.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side have registered eight wins and two draws in the Champions League this season, dispatching the reigning champions, Manchester City, in the semi-finals.
Real Madrid have netted 22 goals in 10 UCL outings this term (2.2 goals per game), although they have only managed to register three clean sheets.
Head-to-head: Bayern Munich have won just one of their last seven Champions League meetings with Real Madrid, who have claimed five victories since 2012.
Given that nine of their previous 10 UCL encounters have produced over 2.5 goals, Tuesday’s clash is destined to be a high-scoring affair with plenty of action.
Team news: Bayern’s lengthy injury list features Kingsley Coman, Konrad Laimer, Matthijs de Ligt, Gabriel Marusic, Bouna Sarr, Tarek Buchmann and Sacha Boey.
On the flip side, Real Madrid are still without long-term injury absentees Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba. Dani Carvajal will also miss the first leg due to suspension.
