Borussia Monchengladbach will need to overturn a 2-0 deficit when they face Manchester City in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola’s side claimed an easy win in the first leg last month, with goals from Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus getting the job done.

Man City also enjoyed 61% possession in the first leg, while Monchengladbach only managed to register one shot on target.

Since the first leg, Man City’s lengthy winning streak has been ended, with Manchester United claiming a 2-0 win in the Manchester derby earlier in the month.

However, Guardiola’s men claimed to victories either side of that game, seeing off West Ham, Wolves, Southampton and Fulham.

Having netted a combined total of 14 goals across their five games since the first leg, Man City remain miles clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Interestingly, Guardiola’s first Champions League game as Man City manager was against Gladbach. Funnily enough, City won 4-0 on that occasion.

On the flip side, it’s safe to say that Borussia Monchengladbach are enduring a hugely testing period at the moment.

The German side have failed to win any of their previous seven Bundesliga games, picking up five defeats and two draws in that time.

A 3-1 loss to Augsburg on Saturday means that Gladbach have lost each of their last four league matches, slipping to tenth in the Bundesliga table as a result.

Gladbach’s last victory came against Stuttgart in the German Cup back in early February. Since then, they have failed to win any of their nine outings in all competitions.

It goes without saying that Gladbach will need to perform a minor miracle in order to turn things around on Tuesday.

Head-to-head: As we know, Man City claimed a comfortable 2-0 win in the first leg, with the English side completely dominating the game.

Man City are unbeaten in five meetings with Gladbach, clinching four wins and one draw since the 2015/16 season.

Team news: With Nathan Ake retuning to fitness, Manchester City have no injury concerns heading into the second leg.

Meanwhile, Gladbach will be without injured trio Torben Musel, Christoph Kramer and Ramy Bensebaini on Tuesday.

When you couple Man City’s recent form with Gladbach’s latest run of results, all the signs point towards an easy win for Guardiola’s men on Tuesday.

Forebet predicts that high-flying Man City will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to victory over off-form Gladbach.
