PSV Eindhoven have their Champions League destiny in their hands ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to Seville.

The Dutch Cup champions are second in Group B heading into matchday No. 5. Four points separate PSV from first-place Arsenal.

Meanwhile, goal difference is the only thing separating PSV Eindhoven and Lens in the group.

Sevilla are in last place in Group B. Los Rojiblancos took a mere two points from 12 points on offer in the Champions League.

It is a crisis season once more for Sevilla. Still, just three points are the difference between Sevilla and second place in Group B.

By the end of Wednesday night, Sevilla could leapfrog both PSV and Lens in the group and move into second place with a win and an Arsenal victory.

These teams met on matchday No. 2 in the group stage, with the match finishing 2-2. Sevilla opened the scoring on 67 minutes thanks to a Nemanja Gudelj goal.

PSV scored to level the game in the 86th minute from the penalty spot. Luuk de Jong scored the leveller but the lead didn’t last.

Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri scored to put the Spaniards back in front. However, in the fifth minute of stoppage time, Jordan Teze scored to give PSV a share of the spoils.

Despite selling key players in the offseason, PSV are top of the Eredivisie standings. They are seven points ahead of second-place Feyenoord.

The Lightbulbs go into Wednesday’s Champions League game on a six-game league winning streak.

Sevilla, on the other hand, are once again fighting relegation. They already made one coaching change this term.

Los Rojiblancos failed to win any of their last six La Liga games, drawing five times and losing once.

Sevilla scored just four goals in four Champions League games, conceding seven times. Coincidentally, PSV Eindhoven scored and conceded the same number of goals.

Armel Bella-Kotchap is the only player on the injury list for PSV going into the match. Sevilla coach Diego Alonso will be without the often-injured Suso for the fixture.

Joining the ex-Liverpool player will be Erik Lamela, who is also a regular on the Sevilla injury list.

Sevilla defender Teixeira Marcao is a doubt to make the matchday squad. Alfonso Pastor is also a doubt to make the team.

The reverse fixture between these clubs ended 2-2. Wednesday’s match in Seville should once again finish with four goals shared, two apiece. The draw will help PSV Eindhoven, but it could eliminate Sevilla from qualifying for the second round.
