Newcastle United will be hoping for a repeat of the reverse fixture when they take on Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes in the Champions League on Tuesday.

On Matchday 2, Eddie Howe’s side thrashed the French champions 4-1 at St. James’ Park, despite seeing just 26% of the ball.

As we head into Matchday 5, however, the Magpies find themselves bottom of Group F – one point shy of AC Milan and two points behind PSG.

The hosts enter Tuesday’s showdown on the back of a 5-2 victory over Monaco, meaning they sit one point clear of second-placed Nice at the summit of the Ligue 1 table.

PSG have now won each of their last six Ligue 1 matches, scoring over 2.5 goals on every occasion, with a solitary defeat coming in their 13 league games this season.

In the Champions League, the French champions have recorded two wins and two losses, defeating Borussia Dortmund and Milan before losing to the Rossoneri on Matchday 4.

That defeat to Milan is PSG’s only loss in their previous eight outings across all competitions, with Luis Enrique’s men picking up seven victories during that period.

Newcastle, meanwhile, claimed an impressive 4-1 victory over Chelsea last time out, ending a run of two straight defeats in all competitions.

The Magpies have now won eight of their 10 matches at St. James’ Park this term, scoring over 1.5 goals on six occasions while keeping five clean sheets.

That said, Howe’s side have struggled for consistency in the Champions League, taking four points from their opening two games before suffering back-to-back losses.

Due to the congested nature of the group, though, Newcastle could find themselves in the top two if they do the double over PSG.

Head-to-head: PSG and Newcastle met for the very first time at the beginning of October, with the Magpies crushing Les Parisiens 4-1.

Although PSG dominated the stats – racking up 74% possession and 11 shots – Newcastle made the most of their chances and secured a famous triumph.

Team news: The hosts look set to be without injured quintet Presnel Kimpembe, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Sergio Rico and Warren Zaire-Emery on Tuesday.

Newcastle’s lengthy injury list contains Dan Burn, Jacob Murphy, Callum Wilson, Elliot Anderson, Sven Botman, Harvey Barnes, Joe Willock, Javier Manquillo and Matt Targett.

Although Newcastle crushed PSG in the reverse fixture, it will be difficult for the Magpies to replicate that result at the Parc des Princes.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that PSG will gain their revenge on Tuesday, scoring over 2.5 goals while keeping a clean sheet.
