San Marino’s SP Tre Penne and Iceland’s Breidablik will face off for a place in the next round of 2023-24 UEFA Champions League qualifying on Tuesday.

The winner of Tuesday’s showdown will face the winner of the other preliminary qualifier between Andorra’s Atletic Escaldes and Montenegro’s Buducnost Podgorica.

Can SP Tre Penne book their place in the next round? Or will Breidablik advance to the final preliminary phase? It’s time to take a closer look at both sides.

Let's start with SP Tre Penne, who won San Marino’s Campionato Sammarinese di Calcio by finishing a solitary point ahead of second-placed Cosmos.

Impressively, Tre Penne lost just two of their 28 league games in 2022-23, securing 21 wins and five draws in the process.

It is worth noting that Tre Penne’s last competitive match came on May 27, when they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Virtus in the Coppa Titano.

However, having lost just one of their previous 19 games – picking up 16 wins for good measure – Tre Penne will fancy their chances of progressing.

As for Breidablik, they are currently in the middle of their domestic campaign, sitting third in the Icelandic top flight – 10 points behind the league leaders.

That said, Breidablik have failed to win any of their previous four league games, recording three straight draws before suffering a 5-2 thrashing against Kopavogur last time out.

Breidablik enjoyed an impressive 11-game unbeaten streak across all competitions between last April and early June, registering eight wins and three draws.

However, they suffered a humiliating thrashing at the hands of Kopavogur last Friday, despite racking up 83% possession and 20 shots.

Head-to-head: This will be the first-ever meeting between SP Tre Penne and Breidablik, meaning we have no previous results to look at for this clash.

Team news: Tre Penne’s top scorer Imre Badalassi netted 14 goals in 28 league games last term, while playmaker Nicola Gai bagged nine goals and 10 assists.

Meanwhile, Breidablik’s danger man is Stefan Ingi Sigurdarson, who has scored 10 goals in 12 league appearances this season.

Given what happened when Breidablik last took to the field, Tre Penne will be confident of reaching the next stage of Champions League qualifying.

Forebet predicts that SP Tre Penne will get the better of Breidablik, with the San Marino outfit expected to score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on Tuesday.
