Champions League Group E is still wide open going into matchday No 6. AC Milan are second in the group with seven points after five games. Red Bull Salzburg are third in Group E and can overtake the Rossoneri with a win at San Siro.

Chelsea lead Group E with 10 points and qualified for the next phase of the tournament. A loss for Chelsea against Dinamo Zagreb could see the Croatians finish as high as second in the group. Goal difference and head-to-head results will all play a role in the final standings.

Milan went to Salzburg in the reverse fixture in the Champions League. The Rossoneri had to come from behind to claim a 1-1 draw at full-time. Red Bull Salzburg’s Noah Okafor scored in the 28th minute but Milan’s Alexis Saelemaekers levelled the game on 40 minutes.

The match saw six yellow cards in a hotly contested match. The winner of the match between Milan and Salzburg will advance to the last 16 of the Champions League. The teams have everything to play for.

AC Milan go into the match fresh off a 2-1 loss at Torino in Serie A. The loss ended a three-game winning streak for AC Milan. The Rossoneri are now six points behind league leader Napoli in the Serie A standings.

Red Bull Salzburg lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea on matchday No 5 in the Champions League. The loss ended a 17-game unbeaten streak for Salzburg. The Red Bulls bounced back from the defeat at the weekend with a 1-0 win against Hartberg.

Milan coach Stefano Pioli will be without at least five players. Defenders Davide Calabria and Saelemaekers are both out until mid-November.

Goalkeeper Mike Maignan is on the sidelines until December with a calf injury. Midfielder Alessandro Florenzi is out until December with a hamstring strain, while striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has a knee injury and is out until the end of November.

Salzburg’s Oumar Solet is a doubt to play. Fellow defender Samson Tijani could return to the team after a leg injury. Meanwhile, coach Matthias Jaissle could have the trio of Sekou Koita, Nicolas Capaldo, and Fernando back from their respective injuries.

AC Milan drew 1-1 with Salzburg in the reverse fixture. The Rossoneri should post a 3-1 win this time around.

The Champions League has had 48% of its matches end as home wins this season in the qualifying rounds and group stage. Home field should play a role in AC Milan’s win versus Salzburg.
