The 2nd legs of the Champions League play-offs will be played this week and Wednesday night features this upcoming clash between Turkish outfit, Trabzonspor, and their Danish counterparts, FC Copenhagen, with the hosts desperately seeking a way to claw their way back into this two-legged tie.

Last week’s 2-1 loss in Denmark in the 1st leg now has the Turkish hosts chasing this tie as they try and erase this one-goal deficit as soon as possible in Wednesday night’s clash at the Medical Park Stadyumu where they’ll be keen to return to for a couple of reasons.

Not only did Trabzonspor suffer defeat against FC Copenhagen but they were also handed a heavy 5-2 thrashing away at the hands of Antalyaspor on the weekend in the domestic Super Lig, but it’s a very different story on home soil.

Trabzonspor have been handed just two defeats at home in their last 28 matches in all competitions which were actually both in pre-season friendlies, while also keeping a total of 11 clean sheets in the process and in the Champions League they’ve drawn their last four home ties on the trot.

FC Copenhagen made the most of last week’s 1st leg home advantage as they registered what could prove to be a crucial 2-1 win at their Parken ground.

The visitors backed that result up with a comprehensive 3-0 win away from home at Lyngby in the Danish Superliga.

Copenhagen will therefore fancy their chances of setting their store out to not lose this 2nd leg and having suffered just the two defeats in their last 19 outings on the road, these results only underline the potential threat that FC Copenhagen still carry into this return leg in Turkey on Wednesday night.

However, seven wins out of their last 15 Champions League ties overall suggest the Danish visitors may possess a level of vulnerability at this level.

Results away from home have also been a little hit and miss; just four wins from their last 17 away ties is not a great record when playing on the biggest stage at European club level and the Danes may get exposed here.

Trabzonspor are expected to produce an improved performance on home soil on Wednesday night while Copenhagen know they’re just 90 minutes away from grabbing a place in the group stage, so honours could be even here in the shape of a draw.
