This season’s Champions League campaign begins this week with two preliminary ties, one of which features this upcoming clash between Estonian outfit Levadia, and their visitors from Iceland, Vikingur Reyjavik, when the two teams face off at the A. Le Coq Arena in Tallinn.
Levadia claimed a place in the preliminary round of this prestigious European competition by finishing runners-up behind the league winners, Flora, in the Estonian Meistriliiga, and the hosts will be confident about their chances in this upcoming tie as they are unbeaten in their last eight matches overall.

Having won seven of these last eight league matches which includes four victories from their last five games on home soil, and indeed, being unbeaten in their previous nine games at their A. Le Coq Arena, the hosts look to have a decent chance of success here.
However, a straight win for Levadia may be a tall order for the hosts as they have won just two of their last 10 Champions League ties overall and managed just one win in their last five ties on home soil.
Vikingur Reykjavik won the 2021 Icelandic Urvalsdeild league title by a slender margin of just a single point over runners-up, Breidablik, at the end of last season’s domestic top flight campaign and the visitors therefore take their place in the preliminary round of this season’s Champions League.
Vikingur also bring some impressive momentum into this vital clash in Estonia on the back of four wins on the trot in all competitions, picking up three league wins and a domestic cup win along the way.
Victories against Valur, KA and IBV in dominating 3-1, 2-1 and 3-0 wins respectively helped them secure the league title as well as inflicting a humiliating 7-0 thrashing of Haukar in the Iceland Cup.
Confidence is also likely to be high amongst the Vikingur camp as they prepare for this Tuesday night clash in what will also be their inaugural appearance on the European elite stage so they will want to give a good account of themselves here.
These two clubs have never met before in any competition but the Icelandic visitors, Vikingur Reykjavik, perhaps look the more likely to secure a vital win to send them into the 1st qualifying round of this season’s Champions League competition.
