On Tuesday night, Erling Haaland set ANOTHER goalscoring record when he bagged a brace in Manchester City’s 4-0 victory over Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League.

The unstoppable Norwegian is now the only player in history to have scored on his Champions League debut for three different clubs, having also achieved the feat for Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund.

On top of that, he is the first-ever player to score 25 goals in their first 20 Champions League appearances. Pretty impressive, right?

It is no secret that Haaland has made a phenomenal start to his Man City career. In addition to his UCL double, he has scored ten goals in six Premier League outings – meaning he has netted 12 goals in eight games for his new club.

After bagging a brace against West Ham, the 22-year-old scored against Newcastle before netting back-to-back hat-tricks against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest. Last weekend, he extended his scoring streak with a goal against Aston Villa.

Although Haaland has adapted seamlessly to the Premier League, there is no denying that it’s his record in the Champions League that deserves the most praise.

The starlet made his UCL debut back in 2019/20, scoring eight goals in six group games for RB Salzburg. He then moved to Dortmund during the winter transfer window, adding a further two goals to his tally during the knockout phase.

Between 2020/21 and 2021/22, Haaland racked up 13 goals in 11 UCL appearances for Dortmund. After bagging a brace on his European debut for Man City, he reached the 25-goal milestone quicker than anyone else.

Remarkably, Haaland averages a goal every 63 minutes in the Champions League. To put things into perspective, Kylian Mbappe averages a goal every 120 minutes in the competition.

When you look at the bigger picture, Haaland has scored 127 goals in 124 games since swapping Molde for Salzburg in 2019. After netting 29 goals in 27 outings for Salzburg, he notched 86 goals in 89 games for Dortmund.

Better still, the Norwegian has scored 20 goals in 21 appearances for his country. Not only does he have an astonishing record at club level, but he also boasts an excellent record on the international stage.

At the end of the day, Haaland’s numbers speak for themselves. If he carries on the way he’s going, he will continue to set – and break – more and more goalscoring records at both club and international level.
