Kobenhavn host Welsh outfit the New Saints at the Telia Parken on Wednesday night in the Champions League second qualifying round second leg.
The Danish giants already have one foot in the next round courtesy of recording a 2-0 victory in the first leg in Wales. They were always the favourites to progress and the first leg was proof that of their favouritism status.
Kobenhavn now have a respectable recent record after the first leg win, as the home side has now won three of their last four games in the Champions League. However, two of those wins were in the early stages of the competition back in 2017.
The Danish outfit has been a tough nut to crack on home soil of late in Europe’s elite competition, though, losing just once in their last nine home matches in the competition.
The New Saints are far from Champions League novices. However, the visitor's recent record in the competition is an inconsistent one. A record of two wins in 11 Champions League outings is not a great one for the Welsh team, though.
Both of those wins have come in the last two seasons in the competition, which shows they are making progress at least. A tie with Kobenhavn was always going to be a difficult one and the first leg result illustrated that. Scott Ruscoe’s team now has a mountain to climb to qualify for the play-off stage.
Like their recent Champions League form in general, their away record in this competition is inconsistent. However, New Saints did record a 1-0 win against Kosovan side Feronikeli in their last away outing.
At this stage of the tie, it would be a major shock if Kobenhavn did not progress to the play-off stage. Forebet predicts that the Danish team will cruise through to the next round by recording a victory in a high-scoring encounter.
