On Tuesday night, SPL champions Celtic host Bayern Munich at Celtic Park in the Champions League, as the visitors look to strengthen their qualification hopes.

The home side are currently third in the group, but a victory would move Brendan Rodgers side level on points with the Bavarian giants. However, a defeat would all-but seal the Hoops exit from the competition.

At the minute Rodgers side are more likely to be targeting finishing in third place in the group and dropping down into the Europa League.

As usual, Celtic have dominated their domestic league this season but drew 1-1 with Kilmarnock at the weekend. Their record in the Champions League is poor too.

The Hoops have lost three of their last four games in Europe’s elite competition, conceding three or more goals in each of the three defeats.

The SPL champions have also won just two of their previous seven home games in the Champions League. That record looks highly unlikely to improve much in this clash.

Bayern have hit form of late, winning four of their last five games in all competitions. The German giants were favourites alongside big-spending French giants PSG to move into the knockout stages of this competition from the group.

However, a 3-0 defeat in Paris in their last Champions League away game will make it difficult for the German champions to win the group ahead of the Parisians.

Surprisingly, the Bavarians have a poor away record in the Champions League, winning just two of their last nine games on their travels in Europe’s elite competition. In fact, the visitors have lost five of their last seven games on the road in Europe.

Both of these sides have been involved in high scoring games of late in Europe. There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Bayern’s last seven Champions League games, while Celtic’s last five Champions League games have produced over 2.5 goals scored.

Celtic Park can be a difficult place for visiting teams, but Bayern head into the game high in confidence. Forebet predicts that the German champions will record a narrow win in Glasgow.
