Liverpool have been one of the most entertaining Premier League sides to watch this season. Wherever the Reds play there seems to be goals.

However, the Reds were on the end of a 5-0 defeat on Saturday against Manchester City, after Sadio Mane was dismissed for a high foot on Citizens goalkeeper Ederson.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will hope to put that hammering behind them when they host Sevilla at Anfield on Wednesday night in the Champions League. The Merseysiders league campaign suddenly seems looks like a mixed one after that City defeat.

However, Liverpool will be confident of starting their Champions League campaign with a victory against the Spanish visitors. The Reds are now four games unbeaten in the competition including qualifiers following a 6-3 aggregate victory over German side Hoffenheim in the play-offs.

Surprisingly, the Reds home record at Anfield in the Champions League is mixed, as they have won two, drew one and lost three of their games on home soil in Europe’s elite competition.

Sevilla have made a solid start to their campaign. Eduardo Berizzo’s side made it through to the group stages by beating Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir 4-3 on aggregate.

The Andalucian’s have kicked off their domestic campaign with two wins and a draw. Last time out, they recorded a 3-0 home win over Eibar.

Sevilla have enjoyed mixed fortunes in the Champions League of late, but have suffered just one defeat in their last five outings in the competition. On the other hand, though, the visitors have won just one of their last five away games in Europe’s elite competition.

Sevilla’s away games in the Champions League have been low scoring of late, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five European games.

Forebet predicts that Liverpool will kick off their Champions League campaign with a victory at Anfield.
