As we enter the international break, we still have some club football to enjoy in the English Football League. On the 10th of October we have a meeting between Stevenage and Wycombe in the EFL Trophy and the game will take place at the Lamex Stadium.

The hosts are in 3rd place in the group on 1 point while the visitors are top of the group on 3 points.

Stevenage come into the match on the back of a 1-0 home win over Wigan Athletic in League One on the weekend.

The only goal of the game was scored from the penalty spot in the 9th minute and both teams had a player sent off in the second half.

The win over Wigan was the first victory in 3 matches for Stevenage having lost their previous 2 fixtures, both of which were in League One. There was a 3-1 home loss at the hands of Oxford United and a 3-2 away defeat to Bolton Wanderers.

Trends show Stevenage have won only 2 of their last 7 matches in all competitions. The wins have come at Cheltenham Town and at home to Wigan in League One.

Home form shows Stevenage are undefeated in 10 of their 11 most recent home fixtures and they have won each of their last 4 EFL Trophy games on home soil.

Wycombe travel to the Lamex Stadium having recorded a good 4-1 win at Fleetwood Town in League One on the weekend. Having opened the scoring in the 20th minute, Wycombe found themselves 3-0 up at the interval.

Fleetwood got one back in the 61st minute but Wycombe responded with their fourth goal just a few minutes later to seal the win.

The victory at Fleetwood means Wycombe have won 5 of their last 7 matches, 6 of which have been played in League One.

There have been wins at home over Blackpool and Carlisle United in League One plus a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace Under 21s in the EFL Trophy. Wycombe also tasted success at Northampton Town in League One, winning 1-0.

Trends show Wycombe have won 1 of their last 3 away fixtures and 3 of their last 5 games on the road. Wycombe have lost each of their last 2 away EFL Trophy matches.

Team news and Stevenage could make some changes to their team from the weekend. Nicholas Freeman, Kane Hemmings, Nathan Thompson, and Ben Thompson could all start.

Wycombe could also make several changes to their starting XI from the win at Fleetwood. Sam Vokes, Garath McCleary, Kieran Sadlier, Ryan Tafazolli, Tjay De Barr will all be hoping to start.

There is little to split the teams in League One currently and that leads us to believe this is going to be a close game.

We expect to see both teams find the back of the net and for the match to end level, with 1-1 as a predicted score. That would be a good result for Wycombe, but Stevenage really need to win.
