Bristol Rovers and Cheltenham Town will kick off their Football League Trophy campaign this Tuesday night with a battle at the Memorial Stadium with Newport County and West Ham United U21s also sitting in Group P.

It's been a tough season for Bristol so far with the club racking up only one win from the six games.

This has seen them let in eight and score only six of their own with the sole victory coming three weeks ago away to Charlton Athletic.

Scott Sinclair bagged once again that day in what has been a sensational individual season for him, but the headlines were stolen by Luke McCormick who bagged in the 98th minute to steal all three points.

On the other hand, Rovers also conceded 20 shots that day and once again failed to keep a clean sheet.

In fact, with the only other points collected for Bristol this season all coming in 1-1 draws, it's now been seven games in all competitions for them where no clean sheet has been recorded.

Those draws saw them grab a point at Fratton Park against Portsmouth and at home to Barnsley and Lincoln City just last weekend.

Joey Barton's men have now not won in their past three since that win over Charlton, as Wycombe Wanderers beat them at the Memorial Stadium two weeks ago after a loss away to Cambridge United.

As well as this, Barton's side have lost to Ipswich Town in the EFL Cup first round 2-0.

As for Cheltenham, however, are having an even worse season and manager Wade Elliot is seemingly hanging by a thread coming into this game.

Should he fail to get another win, his dismissal could be just around the corner.

Last time out, Elliot's side lost 2-0 at home to Barnsley and were also beaten on home soil by Northampton Town just before this.

In fact, with Cheltenham even drawing with Portsmouth 0-0 and losing to Reading 1-0 and Bolton Wanderers 3-0 before that, it now means they are on the worst run in all of the Football League.

Worse yet, the Robins lost to Shrewsbury Town on the opening weekend in League One and were defeated at home in the EFL Cup first round 2-0 by Birmingham City, meaning they have by far the worst record in the EFL in 2023/24.

Forebet predicts a win for Bristol and under 2.5 goals.
