On Wednesday night, FC Copenhagen hosts Dortmund in Group G of the Champions League in something of a dead rubber.

They head into gameweek six three points behind third-place Sevilla. However, the Spanish team has a superior head-to-head record, so Copenhagen cannot leapfrog Jorge Sampaoli’s team.
Copenhagen’s struggles in Group G were not a surprise, as they have now won just one of their previous nine matches in the Champions League. Their main problem in this season’s group stages has been scoring goals, as they have failed to find the net in all five of their group games.
One slight positive for the home team is that they have kept back-to-back clean sheets on home soil in the Champions League against Sevilla and Manchester City.

Dortmund have already confirmed their spot in the last 16 of the Champions League due to their superior head-to-head record against third-place Sevilla. However, the visitors can’t win the group due to an inferior head-to-head record against group leaders Manchester City.
BVB have a slightly inconsistent recent record in the Champions League, but three wins from their last nine matches in European football’s elite competition is not a great record.
