However, Liverpool must also overturn Napoli’s large goal difference. If the Reds cannot overturn Napoli’s goal difference, they will finish second in Group A.
Napoli are having a brilliant season under coach Luciano Spalletti. Despite losing three of their most significant players from the last decade in the offseason, Spalletti has the squad playing fantastic football with a group of new players.
The Partenopei are first in Serie A and five points ahead of Atalanta. They are unbeaten in all competitions this season, with a record of 15W-2D-0L. Napoli are on a 13-match winning streak in all competitions ahead of their trip to Anfield, a stadium they have never won at.
Liverpool have a record of 8W-4D-5L this season. The team looks unmotivated in the Premier League. However, the Reds are doing well enough in the Champions League and picking up points. Their only loss in the competition came against Napoli on matchday No 1.
Napoli won thanks to two goals from Piotr Zielinski, and one goal each from Andre-Franck Anguissa and Giovanni Simeone. Liverpool’s lone goal was from Luis Diaz.
Diaz will miss the game for Liverpool with a knee injury. Naby Keita is also out with a thigh injury. Diogo Jota has a hamstring injury, while Arthur is out following knee surgery. Joel Matip is a major doubt with a calf injury.
Spalletti doesn’t have any fresh injury issues. He is likely to play a strong side against Liverpool to continue the team’s winning ways. Napoli are led in goals by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen, with eight goals apiece.
Mohamed Salah leads Liverpool with 11 goals. Six of Salah’s goals have come in five Champions League fixtures. Liverpool’s attack has struggled in recent matches. They scored just once in their last two Premier League fixtures.
