Experienced European campaigners Atletico find themselves bottom of Group B after three matches, having collected just three points.
However, the group is wide open, as the two teams above them have also only taken three points from their opening three matches.
A win in this clash would put Atletico back in the race for a place in the competition’s last 16.
Unfortunately for the Spanish side, wins have been hard to come by of late in the Champions League, as they have won just once in their previous five outings in European football’s elite competition.
The visitors have been one of the surprise packages of not just Group B but also of the Champions League, in general, this season.
The boys from Belgium are sitting pretty at the top of the group with nine points after winning all three games in Group B. Another win would see Carl Hoefkens’ team book their place in the last 16 of the competition.
Club Brugge has an inconsistent recent away record in European football’s elite competition, as they have won two, drawn one and lost two of their previous five games on their travels.
The 4-0 win at Porto in gameweek two ended a mini two-game losing streak on their travels in the Champions League.
