Club Brugge lead Champions League Group B with six points from two matches. The Blue and Black now go into a double header of games with Atletico Madrid, with the first being at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
Atletico Madrid are third in Group B with three points from two matches in the Champions League. Diego Simeone’s team has not had consistent form in all competitions. Los Rojiblancos are coming off a 2-0 away win against Sevilla. The win ended a two-game losing streak in all competitions.

Tuesday’s match will be the third meeting between Club Brugge and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
The teams played previously during the 2018-19 Champions League group stage. Atletico won 3-1 at home before drawing nil-nil at the Jan Breydel Stadium in the return match.
Club Brugge are fresh off a 3-0 win in the Belgian Pro League against KV Mechelen. The Blue and Black are in good form this season but are trailing league leader Royal Antwerp. Brugge’s last five wins were all wins to nil.
The Belgians started off the Champions League with a 1-0 home win against Bayer Leverkusen. On matchday No. 2, Club Brugge shocked FC Porto 4-0 at the Dragao in Portugal. Brugge outscored their opening two opponents 5-0.
Atletico defeated FC Porto 2-1 on matchday No. 1. A 2-0 defeat away to Bayer Leverkusen followed as the Spanish team continues its inconsistent form this term.
A win for Club Brugge could lock up progression to the knockout stage depending on results elsewhere. Brugge have a 5W-1D-0L record in all competitions at home. They outscored opponents at the Jan Breydel Stadium 14-4.
Atletico have a 3W-1D-1L record on the road this season. Los Rojiblancos have scored seven goals and conceded three times away from the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
Simeone has two players on the injury list ahead of the trip to Belgium. Defender Felipe Monteiro has a thigh injury and will be out until the end of October. Midfielder Rodrigo De Paul will likely miss the game due to “personal reasons.”
Brugge’s Clinton Mata is a doubt to play due to an ankle injury. Midfielder Mat Rits is ruled out of the game following an ACL injury.
Despite Club Brugge’s strong start, Atletico Madrid should put in a strong defensive effort. Los Rojiblancos didn’t concede a goal the last time they played in Brugge.
Atletico should edge Club Brugge 1-0 to throw Group B wide open.
