ŠK Slovan Bratislava will welcome Dinamo Batumi to Tehelne pole this Wednesday evening in the first leg of the Champions League first qualifying round with the away side set to take part in their first game in over three months.

Batumi's season ended way back in February, and after missing the entire 2020 campaign because of the pandemic, the Georgian side came back with a vengeance to win the league by five points above rivals Dinamo Tbilisi and subsequently reclaim the Erovnuli Liga title.

Batumi ended the campaign with 21 wins from their 36 games, and although this was the same as second place, the league champions did only lose three times and register 12 draws along the path of their 36 league encounters.

On the other hand, it was their sensational goals difference record that ultimately set them apart from the rest of the division, with no side scoring more than their exceptional record of 73 goals, while they also managed to concede only 27 times across the entire league season - this also was the best defensive record in the Georgian top flight.

In the last outing, albeit back in February, Batumi also claimed the Georgian Super Cup after defeating Saburtalo on penalties, which does also mean the club have now gone their past four games unbeaten with them playing out some friendlies against the likes of Inhulets' and Rubin Kazan.

As for Slovan Bratislava, they are just 10 days away from the beginning of their new season on the domestic front, as they have also been occupying themselves with some friendly action since winning the Slovak Super Liga back in February.

In fact, Vladimir Wiess’ men finished comfortably as the league champions with second-placed Ruzomberok 11 points behind them in the race for the title.

What's more, Bratislava lost just twice all campaign long, including once in the regular season and one more defeat in the play-off rounds.

Wiess' side were unstoppable on the league front this season, with them scoring 71 times and letting in just 25 goals. Moreover, they were also denied the league and cup double with a brutal loss to Spartak Trnava in the Slovak Cup final back in May.

Bratislava were leading the game in the second half, but an own goal and then an extra time winner for Trnava denied them a famous double.

Forebet predicts the Slovakian side will win here, however, and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
