One of Europe’s most surprising sides this Champions League season have a chance to put one foot in the knockout rounds over Inter Milan and Real Madrid as Sheriff Tiraspol welcomes the Italian giants to the Sheriff Sports Complex.
The Moldovian outfit have simply stolen all hearts and mouths this tournament as they upset the odds to be one of the very few teams to beat the 13-time champions Real at the Santiago Bernabeu a few weeks back.

Sheriff did lead the game for much of the group stage clash as Jasurbek Yakhshiboev gave them the lead, only for the relentless Karim Benzema to score soon after.
It was a game that the Spanish side dominated with 31 shots in total and 76% of the ball being passed around by the men in white.
However, in one of Europe’s greatest recent moments, Sebastian Thil rocketed in a sensational strike to win it for Sheriff with minutes to go. The goal certainly matched the occasion and this result will forever go down as one of the biggest upsets in Champions league history.
Such a result, quite unbelievably, puts the Moldova side top of the table, having also beaten Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 on their debut Champions League match.
Most recently in Europe, however, Inter did manage to beat them to get their European pursuit back on track, which means only two points separate them, while Real could go back to the top of the group with a win.
Back on the domestic front, Sheriff are still running riot having not conceded a goal since their last clash against Inter. They beat FC Balti, Saxan and Petrocub where a total of 10 goals were scored and none conceded.
As for the Italian champions, the defence of their title could be going significantly better right now, but after beating Udinese, the club remain seven points off the unbeaten Napoli and AC Milan, who themselves are separated by goal difference only.
Inter are still the highest scorers in Italy this season, netting four more than the league leaders and eight more than the goalscoring phenom that is Atalanta.
With this in mind, Simeone Inzaghi’s men should get all three points in the unknown part of the world that is Transnistria.
