Midtjylland and Celtic head into the second leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifier on level terms following a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park last week.

The two sides meet again at the MCH Arena on Wednesday, both aiming to get one step closer to reaching the 2021/22 UCL.

It’s fair to say that Celtic completely dominated the first leg, as the hosts enjoyed 63% possession and racked up 16 shots.

Although both teams had a man sent off either side of half-time, Midtjylland only managed to register a single attempt on target.

Despite seeing just 38% of the ball on Saturday, Midtjylland picked up their first Danish Superliga win of the season.

Junior Brumado netted the only goal of the game against AaB, while the Wolves recorded 17 shots – five of which were on target.

Midtjylland have now picked up one win, one draw and one loss in competitive action this term, adding to their two wins and a defeat in pre-season.

It is worth noting that no more than three goals have been scored in each of Midtjylland’s previous four games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Celtic’s domestic season hasn’t kicked off yet, meaning last week’s first leg was their first competitive match since mid-May.

It’s safe to say that Celtic’s pre-season friendlies have not dished up too many impressive results, though.

After beating Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton, Celtic played out a goalless draw with Bristol City before suffering a 1-0 loss to Preston.

Last time out, they were crushed 6-2 by Premier League side West Ham – despite seeing 54% possession and registering more shots than the Hammers.

Head-to-head: Midtjylland and Celtic met for the very first time last week, so we don’t have much data to assess from this fixture.

It is worth pointing out, however, that Celtic dominated possession and created for more goalscoring opportunities than Midtjylland.

Team news: Midtjylland will be without injured duo Valdemar Birkso and Aral Simsir on Wednesday, while Anders Dreyer is suspended following his first-leg red card.

As for Celtic, Nir Bitton is also suspended after his sending off last week, while centre-back Christopher Jullien is injured.

The two sides were evenly matched in the first leg, meaning we could see another low-scoring draw on Wednesday.

Forebet predicts that Midtjylland and Celtic will produced a goalless draw after 90 minutes, with extra-time and/or penalties required to decide the outcome.
