The Champions League has seen some amazing comebacks in its history, but Real Madrid’s comeback against Manchester City on Wednesday night at the Bernabeu may just be the best one yet.
Heading into the last minute of normal time Los Blancos needed two goals to take the semi-final into extra time.

Substitute Rodrygo poked home a goal to give the Madridistas hope. Incredibly, the young Brazilian headed home a second goal just a minute later to send the game into extra time. The goal was met with hysteria by everybody connected with the club from the Spanish capital.
The comeback flawed City mentally and a Karim Benzema penalty kick in the first half of extra time sealed their place in the competition’s final in Paris.
The comeback will not have come as a surprise though, as Real Madrid had already come back from losing positions against PSG and Chelsea in the two previous rounds.
Real Madrid’s name may well just be on this season’s Champions League trophy with their previous comebacks in mind.
They never gave up against some of the best teams in the European game. The final against Liverpool, who are considered by many as the best team in Europe, will be another test of Madrid’s mettle.
Liverpool are attempting to become the first team to complete a quadruple and will be tough opposition. However, it would be foolish to write off Real Madrid’s chances of beating Jurgen Klopp’s well-oiled machine.
In fact, Los Blancos have proven to be something of a boogey team for the men from Merseyside in recent years, as Real Madrid are unbeaten in five Champions League matches against them, having recorded four wins in the process.
Even with Liverpool in such good form, Real Madrid will fancy their chances of winning the European Cup for the 14th time at the end of May.
