We have reached the semi-final stage of the 2020/21 FA Cup and on Sunday the 18th of April we have a meeting between Leicester City and Southampton.

The match will be played at Wembley Stadium in London and the winners will progress to meet either Manchester City or Chelsea in the final.

Leicester City come into the game having lost 3-2 at West Ham United in the Premier League last weekend. The Foxes started the game slowly and found themselves 3-0 down inside 48 minutes.

Leicester City did manage to stage a comeback in the second half but it was too late and points were dropped in the pursuit of Champions League football.

That result means Leicester City have lost their last two matches, with the previous defeat coming at home against Manchester City in the Premier League.

Leicester City started their FA Cup campaign with an away match at Stoke City, which they won comfortably 4-0 before defeating Brentford away 3-1 in the fourth round.

Leicester City’s first home fixture in the competition came against Brighton, which they won 1-0 but their best performance of the FA Cup this season was the 3-1 win over Manchester United in the quarter-final.

Trends show Leicester City have been scoring plenty of goals in the FA Cup and they have managed 3 or more goals in three of their 4 FA Cup ties this season.

Southampton come into the game having suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss at West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League last weekend.

It appeared as though they could be back on track following the 3-2 home win against Burnley but it was a poor performance, including a missed penalty near the end of the game.

The Saints have been struggling to pick up wins and they have recorded only 4 victories in their last 15 games in all competitions.

Southampton started their FA Cup run with a 2-0 home win over Shrewsbury Town before meeting Arsenal at home in the fourth round.

An own goal in the 24th minute was enough to see Southampton progress into the fifth round and they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 away from home, which was a good result.

Then came the quarter-final away against Bournemouth on the south coast and Southampton had little trouble in seeing off their neighbours 3-0.

Team news and Leicester City could have James Maddison, Ayoze Perez, and Hamza Choudhury back in contention having been left out for disciplinary reasons last weekend. Defender Caglar Soyuncu could be available but Cengiz Under, James Justin, and Harvey Barnes are injured.

Southampton continue without the injured trio of Michael Obafemi, Oriol Romeu, and William Smallbone. Takumi Minamino is ineligible after already played in the FA Cup for parent club Liverpool.

Anything can happen in the semi-final of the FA Cup but Leicester City must be regarded as the favourites to win this game.

If they can match their performance of the quarter-final victory against Manchester United, the Foxes will have too much for Southampton and could come away with a comfortable win.
