The FA Cup quarter-finals take place this weekend, with top-flight side Wolverhampton Wanderers hosting Championship outfit Coventry City in Saturday’s early kick-off.

This is the first FA Cup meeting between Wolves and Coventry since the third round of the 1983-94 campaign, with the Sky Blues progressing that season.

However, the Wanderers are unbeaten in their last five home matches against Coventry across all competitions, although they haven’t met since April 2014.

Wolves head into Saturday’s clash on the back of a 2-1 victory over Fulham, meaning they sit ninth in the Premier League table – six points shy of the top six.

Gary O’Neil’s side have now won each of their last three home games across all competitions, with six victories coming in their previous eight.

Trends show that Wolves have been extremely difficult to beat at Molineux in recent months, as they have lost just two of their last 14 matches on home soil.

Having already dispatched Brentford, West Brom and Brighton in the FA Cup, the Wanderers will be confident of seeing off another Championship side.

As for Coventry, they came from behind to beat Watford 2-1 last time out, meaning they sit eighth in the Championship table – one point outside the play-off places.

The Sky Blues have now won six of their last nine matches across all competitions, with only three defeats coming in their previous 22 encounters.

Coventry’s scoring stats in the FA Cup are impressive, as they have netted 16 goals in four matches so far, averaging four goals per game in the competition.

After thrashing Oxford 6-2, Coventry beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-1 in a replay before crushing Maidstone United 5-0 to book their place in the last eight.

Head-to-head: Coventry are unbeaten in their last three meetings with Wolves, while the Wanderers have won just three of their previous 13 clashes.

It is also worth noting that four of the past six meetings have produced under 2.5 goals, with three of the previous five encounters ending 1-1.

Team news: The injury problems are mounting for Wolves, with Metheus Cunha, Hwang Hee-chan, Pedro Neto and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde on the sidelines.

Coventry also have a couple of injury absentees at the moment, meaning Jamie Allen and Tatsuhiro Sakamoto will miss the trip to Molineux.

The Sky Blues are expected to put up a decent fight on Saturday, but Wolves’ Premier League quality should shine through.

Forebet’s AI algorithm predicts that Wolves will claim a low-scoring victory over Coventry, keeping a clean sheet for good measure.
