Young Boys host Bayer Leverkusen at Stade de Suisee on Thursday for the first leg of their Europa League Round of 32 tie.

The Swiss side have been eliminated in each of their last five knockout ties in European competition, while Leverkusen are on the verge of securing five straight away wins in Europe.

Young Boys have only lost one of their 20 matches in the Swiss Super League this season, picking up 14 wins and five draws along the way.

This means that Gerardo Seoane’s side are currently miles clear at the top of the Swiss top-flight, leading second-place Basel by 16 points.

After claiming just one point from their opening two Europa League games earlier in the campaign, Young Boys went on to win three of their final four group matches.

The Swiss side did the double over CSKA Sofia before beaten Romanian outfit Cluj, finishing second in Group A – three points behind Roma.

It is worth pointing out that each of Young Boys’ previous five home matches in the Europa League have produced over 2.5 goals.

Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen started the campaign with a 12-match unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga, sealing eight wins and four draws.

However, Peter Bosz’s men have only managed to win two of their last nine league games, suffering five defeats in the process.

In the Europa League, Leverkusen won five of their six group matches to finish at the top of Group C back in December.

Posz’s men netted 21 goals during the group stage – averaging 3.5 goals per game – while thrashing Nice, Hapoel Beer-Sheva and Slavia Prague.

Bayer Leverkusen have won each of their previous four Europa League games and will be hoping to extend that run to five matches on Thursday.

Head-to-head: This is the very first meeting between Young Boys and Bayer Leverkusen, so there are no previous result to assess for this fixture.

Team news: Young Boys have three notable injuries at the moment, with Esteban Petignat, Vincent Sierro and Christopher Martins Pereira all currently sidelined.

Bayer Leverkusen will be without Paulinho, Santiago Arias, Mitchell Weiser, Lars Bender, Julian Baumgartlinger and Karim Bellarabi on Thursday.

Given that each of Young Boys’ last five home games in the Europa League have produced over 2.5 goals, this game in likely to be a high-scoring affair.

Forebet predicts that both teams will score on Thursday. However, Bayer Leverkusen are likely to net at least three goals on their way to victory.
