The Allianz Arena will provide the backdrop to this Saturday’s clash between Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt with the hosts coming into this encounter fresh from their midweek exploits in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich registered a convincing 4-0 home win over Spanish side Atletico Madrid as the German champions fired an early warning shot to the rest of the competitors on the European stage that they mean business once again this season in defending their Champions League crown.
That opening group stage win became Bayern’s fifth straight win on the trot in all competitions and the hosts look in ominous form ahead of this weekend’s domestic Bundesliga programme where they’ve won three of their opening four matches this term.
An opening day 8-0 trouncing of Schalke was followed by a shock 4-1 defeat away at Hoffenheim but normal service seems to have resumed with the German champions claiming recent back-to-back wins against Hertha Berlin and Arminia Bielefeld in 4-3 and 4-1 wins respectively.
Goals have also featured heavily in Bayern’s league matches so far with the hosts racking up a total of 16 goals to date.
Eintracht Frankfurt themselves have produced some solid results lately as the visitors bring an eight-match unbeaten run in all competitions into this difficult looking clash at the Allianz Arena where they’ll be hoping that Bayern Munich lift their feet off the gas here.
The visitors are also unbeaten in their last six away matches in the Bundesliga too which will give them confidence that they can perhaps keep their hosts at bay and perhaps nick a point on the road this Saturday.
Victories at Wolfsburg, Werder Bremen and Hertha Berlin (twice) mean that Eintracht Frankfurt have won four of these last six matches on the road and together with points picked up in draws at Koln (twice), Frankfurt may feel they have a chance here.
However, it’s all very well to record wins against teams of a similar calibre or opposition that’s below you in the league standings but taking on this current Bayern Munich who are at the peak of their powers, is a completely different prospect altogether.
In addition, Bayern have won the previous three meetings on the trot against Eintracht Frankfurt and look a safe bet to make it four - while goals should also feature too.
