The 2018/19 UEFA Europa League second legs will be contested on Thursday night this week and we have a great game to look forward to at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea of the English Premier League welcome Eintracht Frankfurt of the German Bundesliga to London.

The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw at the Commerzbank Arena with Eintracht Frankfurt taking the lead only for Chelsea to hit back with an away goal.  The result leaves the tie nicely poised although Chelsea will be feeling the better of the two teams following the first leg.

The Blues secured their place in the top four of the Premier League and the Champions League next season with a 3-0 win over Watford on the weekend.  That result means Chelsea are unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions.

However, trends show they have won only two of those games, with the wins coming at home against Watford in the Premier League and at home to Slavia Prague in the Europa League.

Chelsea are undefeated in the Europa League this season and have won eleven of their thirteen matches in the competition, with the other two games ending in draws. They have won all six of their home matches and trends show Chelsea have scored 3 or more goals in five of those games, which is an impressive record.

Eintracht Frankfurt were disappointed not to win the first leg at home and suffered an even bigger disappointment on the weekend as they slumped to a 6-1 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen.  It was a shocking display against a team looking to move into the top four at the expense of Eintracht and they conceded 6 goals inside 36 minutes.

It was a big blow to their top four hopes and that result means Eintracht Frankfurt have failed to win any of their last four games in all competitions.  There have been three draws and one defeat.

Eintracht Frankfurt have won four, drawn one and lost one of their six away Europa League matches this season. They have managed to score 2 or more goals in five of those six games but know they may need to score more than that if they are to qualify for the final.

Team news and Chelsea could be without N’Golo Kante in midfield which would be a big loss for the home team.  Antonio Rudiger, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ethan Ampadu are injured.

Eintracht Frankfurt will be without the injured Taleb Tawatha but could welcome back striker Sebastien Haller who will lead the line with support from Luka Jovic if fit.

Chelsea will be feeling good about themselves having clinched a Champions League place on the weekend but the same cannot be said for Eintracht Frankfurt, who were taken apart.  An early goal for the Blues and they could score a few on their way to victory and the final.
