Switzerland have lost just one time against Hungary in their previous meetings. Indeed, the Swiss won their last three head-to-head matches versus the Hungarians.

Will our score predictor forecast a fourth straight Swiss win over Hungary?

Day No. 2 of the Euro 2024 tournament will kick off on Saturday, with Hungary and Switzerland playing the early match. The two teams are in a part of Group A alongside Germany and Scotland.

With its full complement of tools, Forebet has made a prediction for the Euro 2024 outcome, which you can check in the video below.

Group A looks very difficult on paper, with four strong teams battling for the two automatic qualification places for the knockout phase. The third-place team could qualify for the knockout phase, however, both Hungary and Switzerland will aim for the top two.

Hungary go into the tournament fresh from a 3-0 win over Israel in a final warm-up match. The win came four days after a 2-1 loss to the Republic of Ireland in Dublin.

The loss to Ireland was Hungary’s only blemish in 2024. The Mighty Magyars have played four games this year, posting three wins and a defeat. Those wins came against Turkey 1-0, Kosovo 2-0, and previously mentioned Israel 3-0. Can Switzerland breach the Hungarian defence?

Switzerland are also unbeaten in 2024. The Swiss have a record of two wins and two draws this year. Their wins came against Ireland 1-0 and Estonia 4-0. Switzerland claimed draws against Denmark nil-nil and Austria 1-1.

There may be questions around Switzerland’s goal scoring abilities. Monaco’s Breel Embolo and AC Milan’s Noah Okafor will likely be the two players expected to get the goals for the team.

Bundesliga winner Granit Xhaka will anchor the team’s midfield. Meanwhile, some onlookers may be surprised to see midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri called up once more. The Chicago Fire player has made 123 national team appearances.

Peter Gulasci will likely start in Hungary’s goal. He will have an experienced defence in front of him which includes Willi Orban and Martin Dardia.

The true star of this team is Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai. He has made just 42 national team appearances, scoring 12 times. Szoboszlai is the Hungary captain, and he will dictate the team’s play.

The forward position has plenty of question marks around it ahead of Saturday. Roland Sallai of Freiburg could start in goal thanks to his 13 international goals in 49 games.

Our algorithm predicts a high-scoring game between Hungary and Switzerland. The last four games between these teams saw 3.0 goals or more. Our score prediction is for a 3-3 draw.
