Chelsea Aim for Quarter-Finals Against Leeds Just Days After the EFL Cup Final Loss

Just four days on from the tense EFL Cup final loss to Liverpool, Forebet is back for all the analysis, data and mathematics for our FA Cup football predictions that sees Leeds United head to Stamford Bridge to meet with Chelsea.

The Blues come into this game after a tough loss to Liverpool. Chelsea looked to have taken the lead in that game before Raheem Sterling’s finish was denied because of a close VAR check on offside.

Liverpool themselves had one chalked out, and the game was decided in extra time after Virgil van Dijk headed home from a corner.

Chelsea will no doubt be in dire straits after that loss, as they were the better team for much of the game.

What’s more, it now leaves this clash with Leeds at home as their biggest game of the season after that EFL Cup final, as they are unlikely to get into Europe, not in a European competition, and this is their best chance of success in 2023/24 now.

Maurico Pochettino’s men will also be happy to park their league form for another game, with the club outside of the top half of the table by two points with just 35 on the board from 25 games.

They do now have a game in hand because of the EFL Cup final duty, however, so the west London club can jump into as high as ninth with a win in that extra game.

Nevertheless, although a draw away to the Etihad against the champions Manchester City two weeks ago was certainly a positive result, it does now mean two league wins in 2024 and only 10 victories in the Premier league so far.

As for Leeds, their fantastic season in the Championship saw them record their biggest win of the season last time out against the league leaders, Leicester City.

The Whites fell 1-0 down that day, but with a goal each in the final 14 minutes of the game from Connor Roberts, Archie Gray and Patrick Bamford, Leeds won for the 22nd time and stayed in second as a result.

Better yet, Daniel Farke's men are within only six points of Leicester now, but with Ipswich Town level on points in third, the Tractor Boys are breathing down their neck in the race for the automatic promotion spots.

The data and analysis suggests a close game, and Forebet predicts a win for Chelsea and under 2.5 goals.
