Arsenal host German giants Bayern Munich on Tuesday night at the Emirates Stadium in the Champions League last-16 second leg.
The Gunners look to have an impossible task on their hands having suffered an awful 5-1 defeat in the first leg at the Allianz Arena. The team from north London also head into this game on the back of a 3-1 defeat at Liverpool on Saturday evening.
The mood around the north London club is not great and a record of four defeats in their last six outings in all competitions tells its own story when it comes to the Gunners. The defeat in the first leg was actually the Gunners first in the Champions League this season.
Arsene Wenger’s side actually have a good home record of late in the Champions League, recording four wins from their last six outings on home soil and suffering just one defeat in the process.
The Gunners have also been prolific in their recent home games in Europe’s elite competition, scoring two or more goals in six of their last seven games on home soil.
Bayern Munich will head into this clash knowing that they have a healthy lead from the first leg. Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti may choose to rest some of his key players for the trip to the English capital.
Although the tie looks to be already won, the Bavarian giants will be determined not to lose this game. Bayern have won four of their last five games in the Champions League. In fact, the Bavarians have lost just two of their last eight outings in Europe, but it is interesting to note that both those defeats have come in away games.
Arsenal will be hoping to restore some confidence and pride in this clash. However, with confidence low, it could be another difficult night for the Gunners against the German champions.
