Wolfsburg are ninth in the Bundesliga standings ahead of round 27 against Borussia Monchengladbach. The Wolves are two points off the top six and could move into the European qualification places with a win over the Foals.

Borussia Monchengladbach are winless in five straight Bundesliga games. However, the Foals did draw three of those five matches and are on a two-match draw streak.

Wolfsburg in contrast are unbeaten in five straight Bundesliga matches. They took nine points from the last 15 points on offer in the Bundesliga.

The Wolves are one of the Bundesliga’s best away teams, with 21 points from 13 matches away from the VW Arena. Only Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have done better away from home. The Wolves are on a two-match away winning streak.

Gladbach took three points from the last five matches in the Bundesliga. The Foals failed to score in four of those five fixtures. Daniel Farke’s team is playing well at home. Gladbach are unbeaten in four straight matches at home, but three of those fixtures ended as draws.

Four of the last six head-to-head matches between the clubs ended in draws. In the reverse fixture, Borussia Monchengladbach and Wolfsburg finished 2-2. It was the second consecutive 2-2 draw between the Bundesliga rivals.

Gladbach’s Marcus Thuram opened the scoring in the reverse fixture in the 13th minute. Wolfsburg’s Yannick Gerhardt equalised just before halftime for the Wolves.

Thuram put Borussia Monchengladbach back in front two minutes after the halftime restart. Wolfsburg weren’t done and equalised for a second time on 69 minutes.

Head coach Niko Kovac has two suspended players for the match on Sunday. Ridle Baku is ruled out along with Patrick Wimmer due to suspension. Kovac will also be without Lukas Nmecha. The trio of Lukas Ambros, Kilian Fischer, and Bartol Franjic could return to the squad.

Farke will be without midfielder Manu Kone following a suspension. Defender Tony Jantschke is ruled out with an injury until May. Midfielder Julian Weigl could make the squad following an ankle injury.

Thuram is having a strong season as he prepares to leave Gladbach on a free transfer in the summer. The forward has 12 goals in 25 Bundesliga matches this season to lead Borussia Monchengladbach.

Wolfsburg are led in goals by Gelhardt with six goals. The Wolves have scored 46 goals this season and spread scoring around equally.

Four of the last six matches between these clubs ended as draws. Wolfsburg are second in the Bundesliga in draws with nine this season. Gladbach drew eight of their 26 matches in the Bundesliga. Sunday’s match at Borussia Park should end 1-1, with neither side able to get the upper hand.
