Werder Bremen will welcome Borussia Dortmund to the WESERSTADION this weekend in the Bundesliga with the home side down in eighth and looking to reignite their European hopes for next season with all three points in this game.
It is tough to see how any side gets into the top six at the moment in Germany’s top flight.
Simply put, Freiburg in sixth were in third just three weeks ago and still sit only six behind the league leaders Bayern Munich. For the likes of Bremen that sit just outside of the top six, even though they are right behind them, it makes for tough reading and little hope in the long run.
Bremen have been great in their past two games, however, and they have turned their form around greatly since the 7-1 hammering from Koln on the first game back in the Bundesliga, before they then lost 2-1 at home to Union Berlin.
Ole Werner's side managed to edge past Wolfsburg shortly after their two losses in a row, as Niclas Fullkrug continued his sensational goalscoring form with a goal in either half of the game to collect all three points.
Their main striker didn't get on the scoresheet last weekend, however, but Jens Stage and Marvin Ducksch both netted a goal each that day - Fullkrug has still scored 13 goals in 18 games with three assists and is the top scorer in the German top flight.
In fact, the German is currently on course to be the first top scorer in the Bundesliga in almost a decade because of Robert Lewandowski's departure to Barcelona.
As for Dortmund, they were in action during the week as they managed to defeat VfL Bochum to make it five wins from all five games since action resumed in Germany after the World Cup. Emre Can got a rare goal that day as Marco Reus returned to the scoresheet.
Now, BVB sit in third and well in the title race with them also into the last eight of the DFB-Pokal too.
Back in the Bundesliga, Edin Terzic's men head into this game off the back of a 5-1 win over Freiburg and a 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in their past two games to bring them just one point behind Union Berlin and three adrift of Bayern at the top.
Forebet predicts a win for Dortmund and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
