On Thursday night, Roma and Genoa meet in the last 16 of the Coppa Italia, with both teams eying a quarter-final spot.
Jose Mourinho’s team has taken four points from their two Serie A games since the resumption of play after the World Cup break, beating Bologna 1-0 and, last time out, coming from two goals behind to recover a late 2-2 draw at reigning Italian champions Milan.
The win over Bologna is the Giallorossi’s only win in their last five competitive games dating back to November. However, the team from the Italian capital have also lost just once in the run too, with three of the five games finishing in draws.
The Coppa Italia has not been kind to Roma in recent seasons, as they have lost four of their previous six games in the competition.
In fact, the Giallorossi has lost three of their last four matches in the Coppa. Their recent games in the competition have not been short of goals, though, with at least two goals scored in their last 12 matches in the Coppa Italia.
The visitors are currently mounting a highly promising bid for a return to Serie A, as the Rossoblu are third-place in the Serie B table, just three points adrift of the teams in the automatic promotion berths.
The visitors have been in decent form of late, as Alberto Gilardino’s team is unbeaten in four games, having recorded three wins in the run.
Genoa also has an excellent recent record in the Coppa Italia, recording six wins in their last eight matches.
Furthermore, the visitors have not suffered a defeat in 90 minutes in their previous 13 games in the Coppa Italia.
Forebet predicts that Roma will record a narrow victory over Genoa to progress to the last eight of the competition.
