Borussia Monchengladbach started the season well unbeaten in four straight matches. However, Daniel Farke’s team is now winless in back-to-back matches. Gladbach have sunk to eighth in the standings ahead of RB Leipzig’s visit to Borussia Park.
Leipzig are coming off of a stellar 3-0 home win versus Borussia Dortmund. The match saw coach Marco Rose get revenge on Dortmund.
The Yellow and Black sacked Rose over the summer. Rose will oversee his second match as RB Leipzig coach on Saturday at Gladbach.
Borussia Monchengladbach fans will remember the good times the club enjoyed under Rose. However, fans will also remember the coach’s departure from Borussia Monchengladbach. There may not be too many open arms to welcome Rose back to Borussia Park.
The last four matches between these Bundesliga rivals finished as home wins. RB Leipzig won 4-1 at Red Bull Arena last season. Gladbach returned the favour at Borussia Park 3-1.
RB Leipzig won Rose’s first match in charge, but the coach must overcome the Red Bulls’ poor away form. Leipzig failed to win any of their last five matches away from home.
Die Roten Bullen lost in the Champions League group stage in midweek. Leipzig lost 2-0 to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Gladbach go into the weekend fixture rest. The Foals are not in Europe this season. Farke’s team have been steady at home with six points from nine on offer. Goals have not flowed at Borussia Park. Gladbach scored four goals and conceded two in three matches at home.
RB Leipzig have one point from nine on the road this season. Their last two away matches ended in losses. Leipzig have scored just two goals on the road while conceding seven times to opponents away from Red Bull Arena.
Rose will be without midfielder Konrad Laimer. The midfielder has an ankle injury. Midfielder Dani Olmo is out of action. He has a ligament injury and is out until October. Defender Lukas Klostermann is also out until October following an ankle injury.
Farke has five players receiving treatment. Forward Conor Noss has an ankle injury and is out until October. Back-up goalkeeper Tobias Sippel is out with a shoulder problem.
Defender Ko Itakura is out until November with an ACL problem. Midfielder Florian Neuhaus is out for the season with an ACL injury. Forward Alassane Plea will miss the match with a groin strain.
Leipzig are not a good team on the road. They have suffered back-to-back league losses away from Red Bull Arena. Borussia Monchengladbach should win with over 2.5 goals scored on Saturday. Leipzig’s away winless streak should continue.
