Friday night brings us the start of another weekend’s action from the German Bundesliga and features this upcoming clash between Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim at the Signal-Iduna-Park with both teams making early claims for European spots in the domestic top flight, sitting 5th and 4th respectively prior to this important encounter.
Borussia Dortmund have produced a bright start to their new Bundesliga campaign.
Тhe hosts have won three of their opening four games and although they suffered a surprise 3-2 loss at home to Werder Bremen, Dortmund bring early momentum into this clash.
Victories against Bayer Leverkusen, Freiburg and Hertha Berlin have helped lift the home side up into early reckoning for a possible top four finish and the prospect of Champions League football for next season, although recent results on home soil have been rather inconsistent.
Dortmund’s last 12 home games have yielded W7 but also L5, so they’ll be keen to continue their good start at home on Friday night.
After being handed a heavy 3-1 defeat away from home at Borussia Moenchengladbach on the opening day of this new Bundesliga season, Friday night’s visitors, Hoffenheim, have since seemingly clicked into gear by posting three league wins on the trot.
Victories against Bochum 3-2 at home, a comprehensive 3-0 win away from home at Bayer Leverkusen and a narrow 1-0 home win over Augsburg have also helped lift Hoffenheim into the upper echelons of the domestic top flight table in these early stages of this new campaign.
However, these three wins have been Hoffenheim’s only highlights in their previous 13 matches overall in the Bundesliga, which also includes seven defeats for the visitors as well.
So the prospect of further points on Friday night look far from guaranteed for Hoffenheim.
Results away from home also do little to advocate an away win here for Hoffenheim.
The visitors have managed to collect just one win from their last six outings on the road and they have also been handed four defeats in the process as well, incurring losses at Hertha Berlin, RB Leipzig and two defeats at Borussia M’gladbach.
Dortmund have held the upper hand over Hoffenheim in previous exchanges.
The hosts have won three out of the last four meetings and another Dortmund victory looks to be on the cards again on Friday night too.
