The German top flight action continues on Saturday afternoon and features this upcoming clash between high-flying 2nd placed hosts, Borussia Dortmund, and their bottom half visitors, Wolfsburg, when the two teams face each other at Signal-Iduna-Park.
Dortmund managed to bounce back from their recent humiliating 4-1 defeat at home to RB Leipzig last time out in the Bundesliga when they recorded a 2-0 win away from home at strugglers, Stuttgart.
And the hosts will now be seeking to set the record straight in this next home match on Saturday.
Borussia Dortmund have succumbed to just two defeats out of their last 12 matches overall in the domestic top flight which were against Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig.
But the hosts have also picked up eight wins in the process and look set to continue their dominance against their visitors.
The hosts have won 12 of the previous 13 meetings against a hapless Wolfsburg outfit, the other game ending in a draw, so Dortmund have completely held the upper hand in previous exchanges and the hosts look set to continue this trend here.
Wolfsburg may sit in the lower reaches of the Bundesliga, occupying a lowly 13th place in the German top flight table but the visitors do at least possess a useful and comfortable looking eight-point cushion above third from bottom club, Arminia Bielefeld.
With an upcoming trip to face high-flying Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg may well be thanking their lucky stars that they possess such a buffer especially as they’ve managed to collect just four victories out of their last 18 matches overall.
It’s worth noting that three of these four wins were also actually registered on home soil at their VOLKSWAGEN ARENA, while results away from home certainly haven’t done the visitors any favours in this Bundesliga campaign.
Wolfsburg have won just once in their last nine outings on the road, this rare victory coming in the shape of a 2-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt but having also fallen to six defeats as well, along with failing to score in five of these nine away games, Wolfsburg look to have their work cut out here.
In addition, Wolfsburg have conceded 2 goals or more in nine of their last 12 away games and this could come back to haunt them on Saturday.
