The first Coppa Italia quarter-final sees Inter Milan and Roma go head-to-head at the San Siro on Tuesday night.

Inter booked their spot in the last eight with a 3-2 victory over Empoli, while Roma beat Leece 3-1 in the previous round.

In Serie A, first-place Inter lead second-place Napoli by one point – with seventh-place Roma trailing the leaders by 14 points.

Inter suffered only their second Serie A loss of the season on Saturday, going down 2-1 to arch-rivals AC Milan.

Having won 16 and drawn five of their 23 league matches this term, the reigning champions are on course to defend their crown.

It is worth noting that Inter head into Tuesday’s clash on a run of just one defeat in nine encounters across all competitions.

When you look at the bigger picture, Simone Inzaghi’s men have only lost two of their previous 21 outings.

With 12 goals apiece, Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez are the Nerazzurri’s joint top scorers this season.

As for Roma, they were held to a goalless draw by Genoa on Saturday – with Nicolo Zaniolo seeing red late on.

Despite enjoying 63% possession while racking up 23 shots, Jose Mourinho’s men were forced to settle for a point.

Still, Roma come into Tuesday’s quarter-final on a four-game unbeaten streak – having picked up three wins and a draw since their last loss.

It is also pointing out that Roma have lost just two of their previous ten matches across all competitions, sealing six wins and two draws in the process.

Tammy Abraham is Roma’s leading scorer this season. The Englishman has netted 17 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions.

Head-to-head: Roma haven’t beaten Inter since 2017. Since then, the two sides have faced each other on nine occasions.

Let’s not forget, however, that six of the past eight meetings between Inter and Roma have ended in a draw.

Team news: Inter will be without injured duo Robin Gosens and Joaquin Correa on Tuesday, as both players are sidelined with hamstring injuries.

On the flip side, Roma are still missing Leonardo Spinazzola – who has been sidelined since June 2021 with an Achilles tendon rupture.

With a place in the Coppa Italia semi-finals at stake, both sides are expected to give their all on Tuesday. This could lead to a high-scoring clash with plenty of action at both ends.

Forbet predicts that Inter and Roma will both score over 1.5 goals on their way to registering a high-scoring draw.
