The second round of the 2021/22 Coppa Italia gets under way this week. On Tuesday, Geona host Salernitana in one of three all-Serie A clashes.
Unfortunately, both teams find themselves in the bottom two. Salernitana are rooted to the foot of the Serie A table, while Genoa sit just two points ahead.

Genoa have only managed to win one of their 17 Serie A matches this season, recording seven draws and nine losses in the process.
They head into Tuesday’s clash on a 14-game winless streak, having registered seven draws and seven defeats since their last victory.
To make matters worse, Geona are currently enduring a three-match losing streak. Following defeats to Milan and Juventus, they were beaten 3-1 by Sampdoria last time out.
In the first round of the Coppa Italia, Genoa claimed a 3-2 victory over Perugia to book their place in the last 16.
It is worth noting, however, that the first round was played before the Serie A campaign get underway. A lot has changed since then.
Meanwhile, Salernitana beat Reggina 2-0 in the first round, with Sampdoria loanee Federico Bonazzoli bagging a brace.
It’s been all downhill since then, however. Salernitana have won just two of their 17 Serie A games this term and have suffered a league-high 13 defeats in the process.
Not only are Salernitana the lowest scorers in Serie A, but they also have the poorest defensive record in the division.
They suffered a damaging 4-0 loss to Fiorentina on Saturday, meaning they have now lost six of their past seven outings.
Head-to-head: Salernitana have already beaten Genoa this season, clinching a 1-0 victory in Serie A back in October.
Salernitana have only lost one of their previous six meetings with Genoa across all competitions, picking up three wins and two draws along the way.
Team news: Genoa will be without the injured Francesco Cassata, Mohamed Fares, Nikola Maksimovic, Felipe Caicedo and Nicolo Rovella on Tuesday.
Salernitana also have multiple injury absentees at the moment, including Matteo Ruggeri, Mamadou Coulibaly, Antonio Russo, Stefan Strandberg, Cedric Gondo and Nadir Zortea.
It is no secret that Genoa and Salernitana are both enduring difficult seasons, but it’s fair to say that Genoa are not performing as poorly as Salernitana.
For that reason, Forebet predicts that Genoa will book their place in the next round of the Coppa Italia on Tuesday – keeping a clean sheet in the process.
