The German Bundesliga action returns after the international break this weekend and features this upcoming clash between Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart at the Signal-Iduna-Park with the hosts looking to avoid a third successive defeat on the trot.
Prior to the recent international break, Borussia Dortmund had been handed back-to-back defeats in the Champions League and Bundesliga, losing to Ajax 3-1 at home and a 2-1 loss on the road at RB Leipzig respectively.

Despite that loss last time out in the Bundesliga though, Borussia Dortmund only trail the early league leaders, Bayern Munich, by a four-point margin and Saturday afternoon’s hosts will fancy their chances of returning to winning ways when they welcome lowly Stuttgart this weekend.
The 2-1 loss away at RB Leipzig ended a previously promising four-match winning streak which saw Dortmund pick up victories over Augsburg, Mainz, Arminia Bielefeld and FC Cologne, so the hosts will be keen to rekindle that form against Stuttgart.
In addition, Borussia Dortmund have won their last 10 home games on the trot as well.
Stuttgart currently find themselves perched just one point above the relegation play-off spot in the Bundesliga after failing to win any of their last four matches overall in the domestic top flight.
Draws with Borussia M’Gladbach and Union Berlin were followed by back-to-back defeats to Augsburg and Arminia Bielefeld and this Saturday’s trip to face Borussia Dortmund doesn’t make the visitors’ situation any easier.
Recent results have certainly seemed to elude Stuttgart on the domestic front and indeed, Stuttgart have managed to win just one of their last 10 matches overall in the Bundesliga, that rare win coming in the form of a 3-1 home win against Hoffenheim.
Five defeats within this period have resulted in Stuttgart floundering near the lower reaches of the domestic top flight and results on the road have also contributed to Stuttgart’s lowly league position as well.
The bigger picture shows that Stuttgart have picked up just two wins out of their last 14 matches on their travels and the prospects of gaining all three points away at Borussia Dortmund this Saturday seems remote.
With this in mind, Borussia Dortmund look to be in good shape to return to winning ways here against an out of sorts Stuttgart outfit and the hosts could also cover the -1 asian handicap too.
