Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will welcome Vfl Bochum to the Allianz Arena on Saturday as they look to finally get to the top of the table following Wolfsburg’s perfect start to the season and the two points dropped on the opening day for the Bavarians.
The Wolves are top of the table after winning all four of their games, and as they host the winless Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, it’s fair to say that Bayern may need to wait a little longer if they are to return to the top of the Bundesliga.
Nevertheless, once again, they are clear favourites to take all three points here with Bochum also struggling to make an impact this season. The club have won just one game from the four opening ties, losing the other three.
On the other hand, they haven’t been conceding goals left, right and centre and a 1-0 defeat to the league leaders Wolfsburg when they were down to 10 men from the fourth minute is actually quite a commendable feat in some ways.
Elsewhere, Bochum managed to beat Mainz in a brilliant 2-0 performance that saw them get their first set of points on the board.
This win over the high-flying Mainz and the narrow defeat to Wolfsburg show they have something about them, but with Bayern up next, it’s tough to see how they get a result here.
In midweek, the Bundesliga heavyweights made easy work of Champions League action again, as they eased to a 3-0 win over Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
Thomas Muller would score a deflected effect, before the inevitable happened: Robert Lewandowski scoring.
The Pole would end the game with two goals to establish himself as perhaps the favourite to win the top scorer award in the Champions League once more, but back in Germany, Erling Haaland is right on his tail.
Regardless, he and Bayern are expected to make easy work of Bochum here and it’s near impossible to find a route to victory for the away side this weekend.
The champions are unbeaten in the early stages of the Bundesliga, and with 13 goals scored already, it may just be a matter of time until they are top of the pile once again.
Forebet predicts a game of over 2.5 goals here, simply due to the goalscoring brilliance Bayern boast. At the same time, the home side should rack up all three points quite comfortably.
