Since RB Leipzig were promoted to the Bundesliga in 2016, they have won a mere one time against Bayern Munich in all competitions.

Die Roten Bullen’s one victory came during the 2017-18 Bundesliga campaign. New coach Jesse Marsch is aiming to lead RB Leipzig to a second-ever win over Bayern Munich at the Red Bull Arena this weekend.

It won’t be easy, especially after Bayern Munich poached RB Leipzig’s coach (Julian Nagelsmann), top-rated centre-back (Dayot Upamecano), and captain (Marcel Sabitzer) in the summer.

Seeing RB Leipzig as their man competition for the Bundesliga title, Bayern Munich went on an offensive in the offseason to take away three key pieces of the club’s personnel.

Bayern Munich go into matchday 4 in third place in the Bundesliga having take seven points from nine. Their only slip up thus far was an opening day draw with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Die Roten’s last two games have been high scoring with wins over Koln and Hertha. Bayen Munich outscored the competition 8-2.

RB Leipzig have not got off to a good start. Just three points from nine have been collected by last season’s Bundesliga runners-up.

The good news for Marsch is the team’s home form has been better than the away form. RB Leipzig won their only other home match of 2021-22 by a 4-0 scoreline over Stuttgart. Die Roten Bullen lost both away matches to Mainz and Wolfsburg by a combined score of 2-0.

Marsch should have full-back Angelino fit to start. The Spaniard should slot into the left-back position in RB Leipzig’s new four-man back line. Perhas the shift from a three-man to four-man defence has led to some of the issues this season going forward.

Mamdou Haidara, Tyler Adams, and Kevin Kampl will compete for the two midfield places. Dominik Szoboszlai, Andre Silva, and Emil Forsberg could all be used in attack.

Bayern Munich coach Nagelsmann has a few injury issues. Kingsley Coman is ruled out of the game while Corentin Tolisso and Alphonso Davies are on doubts. Davies suffered a leg injury while on international duty with Canada.

Last season’s game at the Red Bull Arena finished 1-0 in favour of Bayern Munich. Leon Goretzka’s first half goal gave Bayern Munich the win.

With Bayern Munich scoring for fun in their last two games, Saturday’s marquee match should see more goals than last season’s game in Leipzig. Both team should get on the scoresheet as Bayern Munich edge RB Leipzig with over 2.5 goals scored.
