Fraser and Wilson a great double act for Bournemouth

Fraser and Wilson a great double act for Bournemouth

Bournemouth are enjoying a steady campaign in the Premier League this season. On Tuesday night, the Cherries ended a run of four straight league defeats by recording a 2-1 win over Huddersfield at the Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries midweek victory moved the team from the south coast back up to sixth place in the table, at least temporarily, with Everton playing on Wednesday night at home against Newcastle.

Attacking pair have been the key to recent success

A key to the Cherries good season so far has been the form of Scotland attacking midfielder Ryan Fraser and England international striker Callum Wilson. The pair each grabbed a goal and an assist apiece against the Terriers on Tuesday night.

Both players have shown tremendous improvement in their consistency this season. Wilson has now scored eight goals and produced eight assists in the top-flight this season, which is a great return for a player in a tough league like the Premier League.

The diminutive Fraser has not quite hit Wilson’s heights, but a tally of four league goals and seven assists is also a respectable haul for a player who has only just nailed down a starting spot this season.

Gunning for a top six spot

The way the season has gone so far means that if Bournemouth can maintain any sort of form, they could challenge for a top-six spot in the top-flight. A top six finish would be just reward for boss Eddie Howe’s excellent work on the south coast.

With dangerous attacking players such as Fraser and Wilson in their team, they will always have a chance of going far. However, there is a fear that the team’s poor defensive record due to such an open style of play could just let them down.
