In recent years, one team has dominated the Bundesliga, as behemoths Bayern Munich have now claimed the German title in nine straight seasons. The Bavarians may well repeat the trick this season and claim a tenth straight title.

However, another team has also caught the eye in the German top-flight this season, that team is Gerardo Seoane’s young Bayer Leverkusen team.

Die Werkself have certainly made a flying start to their league campaign and currently sit level on points with leaders Bayern at the top of the table.

The biggest factor in Bayer’s campaign so far has been their forward player's prolific start to the season. Seoane’s style of football has brought the best out of French winger Moussa Diaby.

The Paris-born star has notched four goals in the first seven league matches of the campaign, having struggled last season.

However, the 23-year-old has by no means been the best performer for Bayer this season. Czech Republic forward Patrik Schick has scored six goals and produced two assists, as his stellar form from Euro 2020 continued into the new campaign.

The star of the Leverkusen show this season however has been the teenage sensation, Florian Wirtz. The 18-year-old, who was billed as Kai Havertz’s replacement when he broke into the Bayer squad at just 16 has started the campaign in a super fashion.

In six league appearances this season he has scored six goals, while also supplying five assists.

All the signs are that Bayer Leverkusen are in for a good campaign, mainly due to their prolific attacking players. Only time will tell if they can challenge Bayern for the Bundesliga title this season.

However, Seoane’s team could well mount a serious top-four challenge and Champions League football for next season.
