Can anyone end Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga domination in 2021/22?

It’s safe to say that the Bundesliga title race has been pretty boring to follow in recent years, with Bayern Munich winning each of the last nine Meisterchales.

The Bavarian giants have completely dominated Germany’s top division for the best part of a decade now, leaving the chasing pack with very little hope of ending their supremacy.

Bayern lost just four games on their way to finishing 13 points clear at the summit last season, scoring a whopping 99 goals along the way.

Although Hansi Flick left to join the national team, Julian Nagelsmann – arguably the best young manager on the planet – has taken the reins at Allianz Arena.

With world-class stars like Robert Lewandowski, Joshua Kimmich and Thomas Muller capable of causing any opponent serious problems, Bayern’s hegemony doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon.

RB Leipzig finished second last term, securing their third consecutive top-three berth after third-place finishes in the two seasons prior.

But with Nagelsmann swapping Saxony for Bavaria during the off-season, Leipzig’s loss is definitely Bayern’s gain.

It is also worth noting that highly-rated centre-back Dayot Upamecano followed Nagelsmann to Bayern, with Die Roten paying Leipzig €42.5 million for the 22-year-old Frenchman.

Borussia Dortmund – the last team to stop Bayern winning the title in 2011/12 – have recorded five second-place finishes in the past nine seasons.

However, the perennial runners-up finished third last term – one point behind Leipzig and a whopping 14 points behind Bayern.

If BVB can keep hold of Erling Haaland this summer, they will give themselves a decent chance of challenging for the Bundesliga title.

But having already allowed Jadon Sancho to join Manchester United, Dortmund will need to find a creative spark from somewhere else.

Wolfsburg finished fourth last season and also claimed second place back in 2014/15. Still, it feels like they are miles behind Bayern at the moment.

Teams like Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach have the potential to challenge for a Champions League place, but they are nowhere near the level of Bayern

At the end of the day, it is very difficult to imagine anyone ending Bayern Munich’s domination of the Bundesliga any time soon.

With one of the best managers in world football at the helm and tons of unrivalled players on their books, Bayern look set to secure the title once again without any major issues.
