Read news reports written about Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, and the experts claim the manager’s job is safe.

Yet, following back-to-back humiliations, first a 3-0 loss to Man City in the derby and a 3-0 loss to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup, Ten Hag’s status as Man United boss doesn’t look as safe as it is believed to be.

The Dutchman may have won the Carabao Cup last season with the Red Devils, yet this season, Ten Hag has struggled with man management. Most noticeable has been Ten Hag’s poor handling of the Jadon Sancho affair.

United’s back-to-back losses make it apparent that some of the team’s players aren’t invested in Ten Hag’s ways any longer. The Sancho issues may have just been the tip of the iceberg.

With Ten Hag’s Manchester United struggling, bookmakers have the Dutchman at odds of 1.85 to be sacked next. Those are currently the best odds available from bookmakers.

United will start round No. 11 in eighth place with 15 points from a possible 30. They have been outscored 16-11 by opponents in the league. According to the latest reports, the manager spent £411 million in three transfer windows.

It was a significant amount and Man United have little to show for the spend, once more. Of course, Casemiro was a strong signing last term. But in the short-term memory of football fans and journalists, there are plenty of people claiming the midfielder’s transfer has been a bust.

There is also the signing of Antony, which cost the Red Devils £82m. Ten Hag has been hellbent on making Man United look like Ajax, his former club. However, the manager has forgotten that his job is to make the team look like Manchester United, the team with the record number of Premier League titles.

Perhaps the issue that Ten Hag needs to address is to get the bad seeds out of the team. Bruno Fernandes continues to be one of the worst offenders of bad attitudes, continually throwing his toys out of the pram.

Marcus Rashford, for all the goals he has scored, has always looked like a player looking for a way off the pitch when times are hard.

Man United will start the weekend with five Premier League wins and five Premier League defeats. Those wins came against Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Burnley, Brentford, and Sheffield United.

Two of those teams are currently in the relegation zone. The remaining sides will start round No. 11 in 10th place or lower in the standings.

A loss to Fulham at the weekend could be enough for Man United to sack Ten Hag despite him being said to be safe.
