The A-League action continues on Saturday afternoon at the Moreton Daily Stadium when hosts, Brisbane roar, take on Sydney FC in a top of the table clash with both teams having already secured their places in the end of season play-offs.

Brisbane Roar shrugged off a previous 2-0 defeat away from home at Western Sydney Wanderers with a 2-1 home win against Perth Glory which helped clinch a top six finish for The Roar.

Although they can’t overtake Sydney FC into the top two of the A-League, the hosts will nevertheless be keen to build momentum for the upcoming play-offs with a win here.

Recent results have produced mixed returns though for Brisbane as The Roar have suffered defeats against Melbourne City, Adelaide United and Western Sydney Wanderers although all three of these losses were away from home.

On home soil, Brisbane Roar are unbeaten in their last eight matches but they’ve only won three of these while also being involved in no fewer than five stalemates as well.

The hosts have also failed to beat Sydney FC in each of their previous five meetings.

Onto Sydney FC and the visitors cannot improve further on their current 2nd placed standing in the A-League, but nor can they slip out of the top two even if they lose in Brisbane as they hold a four-point cushion over The Roar.

Despite winning their last four matches on the trot in the A-League, Sydney FC will be a little disappointed that they didn’t finish top of the division and claim the minor Premiership.

However, they’ll be eager to keep this winning run going as they look to claim the major prize of A-League champions via the play-off finals.

Recent victories over Western United, Melbourne Victory, Western Sydney Wanderers and Adelaide United have seen Sydney come through the season run-in with flying colours, while the bigger picture shows that the visitors have lost just one of their last 12 matches overall.

The return of English striker, Adam Le Fondre, from a loan spell at Mumbai City in the Indian Super League may also play an important factor not only in this fixture but also the play-offs as he’ll link up with fellow forwards Bobo (11 goals) and Barbarouses (7 goals).

Sydney should at least avoid defeat here but they also look set to take the points too.
