J-League leaders Kawasaki Frontale will visit bottom club Yokohama FC on Wednesday seeking to take three more points to move closer to the title.

Kawasaki Frontale are unbeaten in all competitions this season. Manager Toru Oniki’s team have posted a record of 16W-4D-0L in 20 matches. Playing against the J-League's last-place team, Yokohama FC, they will expect another three points.

Yokohama FC have posted a mere one win in the J-League this season. They have taken seven points from 51 available to them. Their last three matches all ended without a win.

This is the second meeting of the J-League season between Yokohama FC and Kawasaki Frontale. The Blue-Black claimed a 3-1 win against Yokohama FC thanks to goals from Akihiro Ienaga, Ao Tanaka, and Kaoru Mitoma. Yokohama FC scored through Kleber but the game was done and dusted.

Kawasaki Frontale have played Yokohama FC five times since the 2007 J-League season. All five of those games ended in wins for the Blue-Black. Yokohama FC have spent many seasons in the J-League 2. They were promoted before the 2020 season, but look likely to be headed back down this term.

Six of Yokohama FC’s seven points have come at home this season. They are unbeaten in back-to-back home matches. If there is a silver lining for the team, it is their home form.

Kawasaki Frontale have taken 17 points from 21 available to them on the road in 2021. They have posted a home goal difference of +17 with 22 goals for and five against.

The Blue-Black lead the J-League in goals scored with 49. Meanwhile, the defence has allowed a mere 15 goals to opponents.

Yokohama FC have scored the league’s second-fewest goals with 12. They have allowed the most goals to opponents with 42 in 17 games.

Kawasaki Frontale’s Leandro Damiao is the co-leader in goals for the J-League with 12. He is also co-leader in assists with seven. Kaoru Mitoma has added eight goals to the title cause for the Blue-Black.

Kleber, who scored against Kawasaki Frontale in the reverse fixture, leads Yokohama FC in goals with three.

Yokohama FC manager Tomonobu Hayakawa could be without Masakazu Tashiro, Kosuke Saito, and Haruki Saruta for the fixture. Oniki could be without the likes of Ryota Oshima and Kazuya Yamamura due to their respective injuries.

Kawasaki Frontale have never lost to Yokohama FC. They should continue that trend this week with a victory and three more points to move closer to the J-League title.
