Tottenham Hotspur lost the Carabao Cup Final last weekend to Manchester City, 1-0. Now, interim coach Ryan Mason needs to refocus the team on the Premier League and qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Spurs are seventh in the Premier League having taken 53 points from 33 matches. They are five points off of fourth-place Chelsea and could make up some ground this weekend.

Sheffield United were relegated two weeks ago back to the Championship. With the pressure off, they claimed a 1-0 win against Brighton last weekend. The Blades have nothing left to lose and can play without worry.

Sunday’s game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium gives Sheffield United the chance to win a second straight game and damage the home team’s hopes of making the Champions League for 2021-22.

In 2019-20, Sheffield United took four points off of Tottenham Hotspur thanks to a 1-1 draw in north London and a 3-1 win at Bramall Lane. However, in the reverse fixture played earlier this season, Spurs claimed a 3-1 win of their own.

Serge Aurier and Harry Kane scored in the first half to put Spurs on their way to victory. Sheffield United’s David McGoldrick pulled a goal back in the second half but Tanguy Ndombele put Tottenham Hotspur back into control with a goal just after halftime.

Spurs took eight points from the last 18 on offer in the Premier League. They are on a two-game unbeaten streak in the league. Goals conceded were a problem for Spurs over the course of their last six games. They conceded 10 times to opponents.

Sheffield United are at the bottom of the current league form table. They took three points from the last 18 on offer in the league. The Blades scored just two times over the course of those six matches while conceding 13 scores.

Mason has two names on the Tottenham injury list going into the game. Defenders Matt Doherty and Ben Davies are both unlikely to play in the game.

Sheffield United interim manager Paul Heckingbottom has six players that could miss out on the match. Midfielder Sander Berge is suffering from a thigh injury and is a doubt once more.

Jack Robinson is nearing a return but could miss out once more due to a lack of fitness. Meanwhile, it is already confirmed that Oliver McBurnie, Jack O’Connell, Billy Sharp, and Chris Basham are ruled out of the match.

Tottenham Hotspur won 3-1 against Sheffield United in the reverse fixture. Despite their form and Mason overseeing the rest of the campaign, Spurs should claim a second straight win versus Sheffield United with over 2.5 goals scored and both sides finding the back of the net.
