Monday night’s hosts, Celta Vigo, will be seeking back-to-back wins in La Liga when they entertain high-flying Sevilla at their Abanca-Balaídos ground following last weekend’s 3-1 win away from home at Deportivo Alaves.
That recent win helped lift Celta Vigo up into 8th place in the La Liga table but inconsistency throughout this campaign means they still trail 6th placed Real Betis by a nine-point margin as they’ve managed to pick up just three wins out of their last 13 matches overall.

These victories were against Elche, Huesca and the aforementioned Deportivo Alaves but these opposing teams currently occupy positions in the bottom four of La Liga and Celta Vigo are expected to face much sterner opposition in the shape of Sevilla on Monday night.
Results at home also haven’t exactly been convincing for Celta Vigo as they’ve recorded just one win out of their last six matches at Abanca-Balaídos which was against fourth from bottom outfit, Elche.
In addition, Celta Vigo have managed to keep only three clean sheets at home this season.
4th placed Sevilla will be going in search of a fourth win in five matches in the Spanish top flight on Monday night following recent victories over Real Betis, Elche and most impressive of all, a 1-0 home win over the current La Liga leaders, Atletico Madrid.
It’s been a successful campaign for the visitors as they look to have secured a top four finish in this season’s La Liga season.
That should ensure Champions League football for next season and this has been richly deserved as the visitors have won nine of their last 12 matches overall.
Sevilla also possess a reasonable record away from home too in this season’s La Liga campaign with 7 wins, 3 draws and 4 defeats and have lost just twice in their last 10 matches on their travels.
Therefore, Sevilla look in good shape to pick up something from their trip to the Abanca-Balaídos.
The visitors have failed to score just once in these last 10 matches but have also kept a total of five clean sheets and this could be an important factor in determining the outcome of this clash on Monday night.
Sevilla won the previous meeting against Celta Vigo 4-2 at home but the visitors should at least avoid defeat here, if not nick the three points.
